BT, Co-op, Lendlease (pictured), PepsiCo, Royal Mail and Vodafone are among the UK organisations that feature in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2018 list, compiled by The Times and Business in the Community (BITC).

The unranked list, which forms part of Responsible Business Week (23-27 April 2018), recognises UK employers that are making gender equality a key focus within their business strategy. This includes creating inclusive workplace cultures, and progressing women in their careers across all areas and levels of the organisation.

Other organisations recognised on the 2018 list include Ashurst, BBC, Barclays, Deloitte, Lloyds Banking Group, Mercer, Norton Rose Fulbright, Santander UK, Sky, the British Army and Unilever UK.

In addition, three organisations from the list have been named winners in the Business in the Community Gender Equality Awards 2018. These awards celebrate progress in gender equality in the workplace, and showcase examples of best practice, impact, innovation and individual achievement.

Management consulting organisation Accenture and telecommunications business Sky both won the Game Changer award, while digital technology organisation Fujitsu was recognised with the Gender Champion award. Finalists in this category include the Post Office and Tideway.

Chloe Chambraud, gender equality director at Business in the Community, said: “A huge congratulations to all the organisations in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2018 and to the Business in the Community Gender Equality Awards 2018 winners and finalists. They have shown their strong commitment to enabling men and women to contribute equally to society, understanding and addressing barriers to gender equality in the workplace, and recognising the benefits of having a diverse workforce at all levels. I hope that even more employers will follow their examples of best practice on this agenda.”

Dan Labbad, chief executive officer, international operations at Lendlease, added: “Being named one of the UK’s top employers for women is great news and welcome recognition for Lendlease’s continued efforts to attract more women into construction. We are pleased to be recognised for our efforts so far on this critical issue, but we are not complacent and will continue working hard to build a more inclusive workforce.”

Dr Siobhan Martin, UK HR director at Mercer, said: “I am thrilled that Mercer has been named among The Times Top 50 Employers for Women. We’re on a mission to ensure [employees] reach their full potential, through bringing their whole selves to work, having diverse role models to look up to and having stimulating, progressive careers. We offer a breadth of flexible working options and support everyone regardless of family arrangements.”
