DHL Supply Chain updates parental, bereavement and wellbeing policies

Logistics firm DHL Supply Chain has enhanced its parental leave, bereavement and wellbeing policies in order to provide staff and their families with broader health and wellbeing support.

The employer updated its parental leave policies to extend the length of paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave, and introduced paid leave for miscarriage or baby loss, in order to give staff time to cope with difficult experiences.

UK and Ireland employees were also given access to the Wellness Cloud platform, which provides support for health and wellbeing across pregnancy and parenting, fertility, neurodiversity, mental health, menopause, sleep, bereavement, and financial wellbeing.

Through the platform, DHL Supply Chain staff can access recorded talks, live question and answer sessions, free online antenatal, baby and toddler classes, workshops and written guides on a range of topics, and virtual drop-in clinics with antenatal specialists and an infant and child sleep expert. They will also have the opportunity to arrange a one-to-one consultation with a specialist in fertility, parenting or the menopause.

According to the employer, it updated and introduced these initiatives as a response to feedback from its staff on the support needed for parenting, pregnancy, fertility and menopause. The updates were made in line with its approach of creating a holistic programme for employees’ physical, emotional, financial and social wellbeing.

Nicki Hay, senior vice president of HR, UK and Ireland at DHL Supply Chain, said: “At DHL, employee wellbeing is a priority and we’re proud to be investing in our workers’ health and happiness. Challenges in recent years, particularly the pandemic and cost-of-living crisis, are impacting the wellbeing of many people, so it’s important to continually update and improve our benefits provision. We are delighted to be offering access to the Wellness Cloud, providing quality online support and resources as well as enhanced benefits.”
