Manslaughter laws loom

Employers have been urged to make sure that their fleet policies and practices comply with the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, which comes into force on 6 April 2008. The new legislation will make it easier for employers to be prosecuted in the event of fatal accidents involving their drivers. Mark Sinclair, director of Alphabet, said: “It is estimated that 1,000 road deaths every year in the UK involve someone driving on business. [Employers] are more vulnerable than they may think.”
