Discovery Communications updates benefits communication

Discovery Communications, which broadcasts the Discovery Channel, has introduced a digital platform to improve the way benefits are communicated to its UK staff.

Using the system, which went live last month, employees can access personalised online total reward statements.

They can also access information on individual benefits. For example, the platform provides a pension calculator to help staff understand the value of their pension pot, and how much it changes depending on the amount they contribute.

The platform, provided by Grass Roots, also enables Discovery to provide targeted communications to alert individuals about benefits relevant to their lifestyle. For example, staff returning from maternity leave can automatically be sent information about the firm’s childcare benefits.

Nicky Riding, vice-president of human resources at Discovery Communications Europe, said: “To attract and retain the best people, it is important to provide more than just salary. Benefits are good for retention and staff may think twice about moving if they believe the company is treating them well and providing them with a range of incentives and opportunities.”
