Cadbury sports new wellbeing plans

Cadbury Schweppes has launched an employee health and wellbeing initiative after the scheme was piloted by Cadbury Trebor Bassett.

Its ‘Fit for life’ campaign, which mirrors that run by Cadbury Trebor Bassett, comprises four main strands: personal wellbeing, nutrition, balance and relaxation, and activity. These include benefits such as a free health check for staff, Indian head massages and Pilates classes.

This year, Cadbury Trebor Bassett will introduce several new features to its scheme. These include a health fair, which will be held at its main site in Birmingham in March, and will bring brands such as Wellman onsite to promote their products and discuss health issues.

Sporting tournaments to help improve employees’ fitness are also in the pipeline. Sue Ford, occupational health nurse manager at Cadbury Trebor Bassett, said: “We have planned for a mini-Wimbledon tennis competition to take place, and also a knock-out football tournament.”

She added that onsite seminars and presentations are being arranged to coincide with events such as National No Smoking Day and Diabetes Awareness Day. “We are aiming for a better work-life balance, and if these employees can’t get access to these facilities outside work then we want to give it to them inside work,” explained Ford.

Cadbury Schweppes is currently in the process of designing similar initiatives to suit its own workforce.
