IT firm Microsoft will introduce discounted access to spa treatment from January, after running test days for employees.
The company, which will offer the benefit to staff on a voluntary basis, initially plans to run the scheme for 12 months. After this time it will decide whether to continue doing so, depending on employee take-up.
Mary Giles, compensation, benefits and operations manager, explained: "We surveyed staff earlier in the year, and when the spa option came out of it we decided to send some employees out to ‘try before they buy’ and they said they loved it."

It is hoped that this new wellbeing benefit will help to reduce stress in the workplace and to boost employees’ productivity.
"We do hope that it will help to reduce stress levels and we recognise the need for healthy employees, as clearly these staff will be more productive," explained Giles.
Microsoft currently offers a range of wellbeing benefits for staff, including health screening, vital organ scanning and a wellbeing centre at its head office.
