NHS update benefits to comply with age discrimination

Last month, the National Health Service overhauled its redundancy benefits to comply with October’s age discrimination legislation. All employees will now receive one month’s pay for each year of service up to a maximum of 24 months.

In addition, staff over the minimum pension age will be able to take early retirement on redundancy without reducing the value of their pension, as will those who take early retirement in the interests of the service.
